Virtual and hybrid collaboration of the Indonesian Embassy on environment and health issues

Since September 2019, the Embassy has focused its work on disseminating good technical practices to local actors in order to be part of local development. It is quite optimistic that the activities carried out in collaboration with the Libyan side have given opportunities for Indonesia and Libya or an event for other international organizations / institutions residing in Libya who have the same vision to exchange information and more technical activities. Some examples which are now appreciated and which could be further explored by government and private institutions in Libya are virtual exchange activities on recycling products from waste plastic and paper, water management in using applied sustainable technology and energy (training).

From the above perspective, strong messages of support are given by dignitaries in Libya especially regarding the campaign and action to maintain the state of the environment on a sustainable basis despite still many challenges. This message is very patriotic since the whole world is now facing the same problems and challenges. We are all aware that for decades the world and international communities have tried to avoid natural disasters which can be made worse by the occurrence of unnatural disasters. Climate change and other disasters that can have massive impacts on populations must be anticipated together and in a collaborative manner.

It seems very optimistic that the Libyan and Indonesian lifestyles fully respect their environment. Both countries have the same qualification and are well known as coastal states. The states that are very much integrated into the existence and activities of water. Nautical activities are very important to preserve all aspects of safety (food, energy and other economic values) for the benefit and well-being of local populations. This attention extends to all levels of societies with the political and logistical support of central and local government and / or administrations.

The Embassy noted highly an enlightening moment from September 2019 when the Embassy started to organize a seminar with the non-profit organization such as Better Africa, the Union of Libyan Non-Governmental Organizations, with the Bureau International Organization for Migration-Libya, UNDP -Libya Office, Libya Ministry of Planning, Libya Bureau of Culture, Libya Ministry of Labor and Rehabilitation, Ali Book Center Gharyani, Audience with Prime Minister Abdelhamed Dbeiba and Minister Ibrahim / Ministry of the Environment during the signing of the document on climate change in Tripoli June 2021, Faculty of Agriculture of Misurata, National Paralympic Committee of Libya, College Islamic Appeal of Tripoli, Union of Chambers of Commerce and all meetings that have enjoyed good assistance from Libyan online media. These collaborative activities provide a solid foundation and ownership that Libya and Indonesia are concerned with the environmental situation with international communities.

It is hoped that these collaborative efforts will not stop when the sentiment of all aspects of the communities attains the same tone and vision to work for a better and stronger contribution to societies in the wider contacts not only for them. individuals but also for communities. It is encouraging that the Libyan government and all relevant stakeholders are developing many initiatives. The initiative that invites all stakeholders in the country and all international institutions to participate in creating a better situation for all.

In this regard, the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Tripoli is pleased to engage with all relevant stakeholders in Libya according to its capabilities by organizing virtual activities that may be of benefit to our two peoples. This means is quite effective even if it also depends on the connection, but this innovative way can reduce the limitation of physical visits due to a pandemic situation.

As a prior commitment, in the fourth quarter of 2021, precisely at the end of this year, the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia has prepared programs that will be carried out with certain technical stakeholders or individual families such as the Libyan artist and other professional institutions in many fields such as the health community, the culture and the diplomacy of the founding father.

One of them in the near future is that the embassy has prepared programs respectively with the alumni of the technical faculty of the University of Indonesia and the management of the book center, Ali Gharyani-Tajoura-East Tripoli , by organizing a one-day seminar under the theme Development of medical devices on air disinfectant for human health. This activity is in fact like a continuation program made since the Covid 19 pandemic found in 2020. The program is intended to disseminate and transmit the good practices of Indonesian youth and their Senior Fellow of the University of Indonesia in development devices that give a good impact by reinforcing the human alert on his health protection after carrying out mobile activities during and after the pandemic era. In Indonesia, the above activity is successfully classified to accompany the program of the government and its companies in raising awareness and maintaining a good attitude to adopt hygienic practices after doing unavoidable activities outside or indoors in addition to using a mask, clean hands and social distancing.

The other program disseminates the shared value of the local wisdom of our Founding Fathers and our diverse culture to respect and explore the uniqueness of our two cultures and the diplomacy of the Founding Fathers. Other programs which have just been introduced and are trying to be developed are with government institutions and with other professional institutions such as National Paralympic of Libya in the field of human resources training.

It is hoped that in the last quarter of this year or in the years to come, the Embassy will have the chance to work in a substantial way and in a broader engagement of our two national institutions / organizations. But what is most important is that the embassy as the representative of the country and the peoples always tries to close the gap that has arisen due to inevitable circumstances.

By doing this, the Embassy hopes that the Embassy will try to be the positive part of the local development especially in the community health sector and the urban environment in order to create more barakah environment not only for the people. local but also for the other peoples of the regions. . For this reason, the embassy is always open to make the link and share its best practices from our Indonesian colleague in order to support local initiatives and the development program.
